Counseling

Hello and welcome Clear Fork families to the Counseling webpage!

My name is Loren Riedel and it is my honor to be the counselor at Clear Fork Elementary. I earned my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin in Bilingual Education. I was a teacher in Austin ISD before leaving the classroom to pursue my graduate degree. I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Texas State University, specializing in school counseling. I am so grateful to work with and support our amazing students and staff at CFE.

7 Mindsets at CFE

We are Connected

The Mindset for September is

We Are Connected

Embrace Everyone

Maximize Positive Relationships

Build Your Dream Team

Lead With Value

We are very excited to announce that Lockhart ISD has adopted the 7 Mindsets curriculum, which will be implemented at all elementary schools and the Junior High! 7 Mindsets focuses on one Mindset each month, with teachers teaching weekly lessons that help develop students’ social and emotional competencies and skills. The 7 Mindsets are: We are Connected, 100% Accountable, Attitude of Gratitude, Everything is Possible, Passion First, Live to Give, and The Time is Now.

CFE Counseling Program

At CFE, the counseling program includes:

Guidance Curriculum- Each class participates in a monthly lesson with me exploring topics such as: self-confidence and self-concept, motivation to achieve, decision making, goal setting, planning, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, communication skills, responsible behavior, and cross cultural effectiveness. Beginning this year, we will be integrating these guidance areas with the 7 Mindsets curriculum.

Group counseling- Small groups of students meet with me outside the classroom to  learn concepts and skills that will help them to be most successful in life and at school.

Individual counseling- Individual counseling at school is short-term in nature. The goal is to help students overcome issues impeding achievement or success at school. If a student is in need of regular and/or long-term individual counseling, please email or call me. I am always happy to provide referrals to mental health resources in the community.

Responsive services- Responsive services are activities designed to meet students’ immediate needs and concerns in critical or crisis situations. Crisis response includes intervention and follow-up to the immediate need in order to prevent the situation from becoming more severe.

Student planning- Individual planning consists of ongoing systematic activities designed to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans, such as individual learning plans. Counselors from Lockhart Junior High visit Clear Fork each year to help our 5th graders prepare and plan for the transition to Junior High.

504 Program Coordination- I am the campus 504 Coordinator. If you have questions or concerns about 504, please get in touch.
