LISD Congratulates PRIDE High School Class of 2016

In an auditorium filled with proud parents, family members, teachers, district staff, and Board members, a special group of students became LISD graduates and life-long learners as the PRIDE High School Class of 2016 crossed the stage Thursday, Dec. 15.

The honored graduates included:

Chance William Bertram
Evelyn Arline Callente
Celeste Carrillo Santos
Andrew Oliver Denny
Kimberly Martinez
Kayli Michelle McClary
Xavier Ray Reyes
Megan Raquel Robledo
Bon Serna
Lea Serna
Morgan William Tankersley
Pamela Lorene Warren

Pamela Warren was the student speaker for the ceremony. In addition to thanking her mother for standing by her side and all of the teachers for helping the students earn their diplomas, Warren addressed her fellow graduates saying, "Chase your dreams, make mistakes, and enjoy everything in between. We finally did it!"

Kathi Bliss, editor for the Lockhart Post-Register, served as the commencement speaker. Bliss, a graduate of LISD herself, provided a powerful address packed with nuggets of wisdom for the graduates. "Listen to the sound of your own hearts and minds. Experience tells us that if a situation looks or feels wrong, it probably is. Experience also tells us that there are a whole lot of chances that are well worth taking. Learn the sound of your inner voice, and listen to it. It will almost never let you down – and even if it does, it’s probably teaching
you a lesson you needed to learn." (Read the full commencement address in the attachment below.)

The one graduate unable to attend the ceremony was Morgan Tankersley, who has already reported for military duty with Army Airborne Ranger Training.

LISD wishes these graduates the greatest success in what will certainly be a bright future for all.
